The Lanham-Miller
Funeral Home offers traditional and cremation services that fit the needs
and wishes of the families we serve. With any service,
there are many options to choose from and we are here to help select the
appropriate service for you or your loved one.
In a traditional funeral service, the deceased is
present in a casket. There may be a visitation the day before the service
and the funeral service is usually held at a church or the funeral chapel.
The committal service then takes place at the cemetery and the casket is
placed in an outer burial container or vault (required by most cemeteries).
In a cremation service, the family also has options. The
deceased may still be present for the service and the cremation can take
place after the service is completed. The family would select a cremation
casket or rental casket for the service. The deceased's ashes may then be
buried or kept by the family. If the deceased is present for the visitation
and service, embalming is required. In a memorial service, the urn may or
may not be present for the service and / or visitation. The remains can then
be buried in a cemetery or kept by the family. A direct cremation means
there are no services. In both situations, embalming is not necessary.
These are just some of the options one can choose when deciding on a
service for them selves or loved ones. It is our commitment to assist you in
selecting the service that is right for your loved one and family. Please
contact us if you have any questions.
