Virginia I.
Stevens, 85, of Cataract died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Franciscan Skemp
Healthcare, La Crosse. She was born on December 19, 1920 in Sparta to
Wilbert and Hilda (Huggett) Willgrubs. She grew up in the Big Creek area.
She graduated from Sparta High School in 1938.
Virginia
married Richard Stevens on March 25, 1940 in Decorah, Iowa. After marriage
they lived in Madison and moved to Cataract in 1946. She worked at the
Wisconsin Child Center and then at the Monroe County Farm. She enjoyed
gardening, and collecting stamps.
She is
survived by her husband, Richard of Cataract; a daughter, Virginia (Frank)
Scagolione of Brookings, Oregon; a son, Richard (Luella) Stevens of Sparta;
two grandchildren, Frank R. Scagolione of Brookings, Oregon, Rhonda
(Patrick) Woods of Tomah; a brother, William Willgrubs of Rockland.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Phillip.
Graveside
funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Big Creek Union Cemetery,
rural Sparta.
Burial
will be in the Big Creek Union Cemetery.
Friends
may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Saturday from 1 p.m.
until 1:50 p.m.
