Marjorie “Jo” J. Winscher, 69, of Sparta, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, Sparta. She was born on June 12, 1939 in Sparta, WI to Herman and Alice (Carr) Schanhofer. She grew up in Coles Valley, Monroe County, WI and graduated from Sparta High School. She then attended La Crosse School of Beauty.

     Jo worked at Corrine’s Beauty Court in Sparta and then worked in the kitchen at Morrow Memorial Home until her retirement. She married Ray Winscher on June 30, 1962 in Sparta. Ray passed away in 1994.

     Jo is survived by her children, Mary (James Siber) Doherty of Tomah, WI, John (Chris) Winscher of Mindoro, WI, and Timothy Winscher of Mindoro; her grandchildren, Hollie (Todd Reekie) Doherty, Sara (Roger) Jones, and Joshua Winscher; her step grandchildren, Joshua and Isiah Kramer; her great grandchildren, Tristan, Isabella, Aaron, Dawson, Jaden, and Marjorie; her sisters, Sally Surrerier of Sparta, Marilyn (Bob) Bruns of Tomah, Jeanette (Roger Hutson) Andringa of Sparta, and Anita (Sherwin) Giraud of Sparta; and her brother, Mike (Bonnie) Schanhofer of Luxemburg, WI.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alice; her husband, Ray; and her brothers, Paul Robert, Ted, James Patrick, Donald, and John.

     Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta.

     Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
