Thomas E. Fuenger Sr., 70, of Sparta, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at his home. He was born on March 26, 1936 in Sparta, WI to Frank and Mary (Sullivan) Fuenger. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1954.

     He served in the US Air Force from August 27, 1954 until May 1, 1958. He married Margaret Kelsey on July 25, 1959 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta. He served in the National Guard for 8 years. He worked at Fort McCoy for 32 years retiring in 1988. During retirement he worked at Sparta Motors and Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center.

     He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Sparta; his children, Lois “Buddy”) Watford of Wausau, WI, Joann Aycock of Sparta, Leonard Thomas of Tomah, Susan (Dale) Melson of Caseville, MI, Thomas (Alice) Fuenger Jr. of Sparta, and Daniel (Crystal) Fuenger of Sparta; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, James (Anne) Fuenger of Fond du Lac, WI.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Randy Larson officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta.

     Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. until time of services.
