Condolences

Steven K. Colby

     Steven K. Colby, 58, of Sparta died Friday, September 29, 2006 in his home. He was born on September 19, 1948 in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Irvin and Delayne (Skolis) Colby. He grew up in Cashton and graduated from Cashton High School. Steve was drafted by the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was awarded many service medals including the purple heart. He served with the 101st airborne. He was discharged in July of 1970.

     Steve worked at Clements Construction in Cashton and then worked as crew leader at Fort McCoy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar races and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2112 and the American Legion Post 100.

     He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Jody) Webber of Sparta, grandchildren, Brittany and Taylor, Judi (Aron Nelson) Colby of Sparta, grandchildren, Nicholas and David.; a sister, Susan (David) Thomas of CA; two half sisters, Pamela (Tim) Thomson of Amery, WI, Cheryl (Dan) Lettelier of Amery, WI; his step mother, Lou Colby of Clear Lake, WI; a aunt, Emma Jean Quaal of Westby; cousins; nieces, and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; two uncles, James Quaal, Sam Colby, and an aunt, Pearl Anderson.

     Family graveside funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Skogdalen Cemetery, Timber Coulee, Westby, WI. with Reverend Jeffrey Wm. Miller officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2112 and American Legion Post 100 will be in Skogdalen Cemetery.

     Family and friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m..
