Evelyn E. Schotten, 95, of Elkhart, Indiana and formerly of Sparta died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in Elkhart. She was born on September 26, 1912 in Sparta to Chas and Maggie (Murphy) Howard. She grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1931.

     Evelyn married Henry Schotten on December 31, 1940 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. After marriage they lived in Sparta all their married lives. She moved to Elkhart to be near her daughter in January of 2008.

     She is survived by her children, Michael (Leslee) Schotten of Oviedo, FL, Janice Helmer of Elkhart, IN; six grandchildren, Trina, Nicole, Billie Joe, Jennifer, Christine, Kaylee; 10 great grandchildren, and many other relatives.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry on October 8, 2005, and a sister, Margarite.

     Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Father James Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home on Saturday from noon until the time of service.
