Minnie M. Rego, 88, of Viroqua and formerly of Sparta, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Vernon Memorial Hospital, Viroqua. She was born on September 5, 1919 to Harry and Beatrice (Miller) Maxwell. She grew up in the Cazenovia area. She married Myron Rego on November 17, 1937 in Cazenovia, WI. After marriage, they farmed in the Cashton/Ontario area. They moved to Sparta in 1972. She worked as a CNA at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta from 1972-1985. She moved to Viroqua in July of 2005. She was a member of the Isham Valley Homemakers for more than 50 years, a member of the V.F.W. Post 2112 Auxiliary, and an active member of the Sparta United Methodist Church and Church Circle. She is survived by a son, Harry (Sue) Rego of Ontario; 3 daughters, Nora May (Jim) Pansch of St. Louis, MO, Carole (Wilson) Holdredge of Rochester, MN, and Marilyn Rego of Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Gloria Maxwell of Muscoda, WI, and Pauline Maxwell of De Sota, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron of February 9, 2001; 2 brothers, Vernon and Vivian; and 1 sister, Viva Dunwald. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Sparta, with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements. |
