Philip T. Luebke, 56, of Sparta died Sunday, May 25, 2008 in his home. He was born on September 16, 1951 in La Crosse to William and Janet (Roberton) Luebke. He grew up in La Crosse and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1969. He worked for the City of La Crosse Water Department.

     Philip joined the Army National Guard on December 16, 1969. He served until November 26, 1994. Philip moved to Sparta in 1978 and worked at Fort McCoy for over 25 years. He retired in 1994.

     He loved Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and going on motorcycle trips. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Friends and family were very important to Philip.

     He is survived by his children, Chris Luebke of La Crosse, Brian (Liza) Luebke of Dayton, Ohio, Joseph (Nicole) Luebke of Sparta, Stephen Luebke of Sparta; two grandchildren, Patience, Seth; two brothers, John (Joanne) Luebke of Grand Rapids, MI, Richard (Sarah) Luebke of Wisconsin Dells, WI; special friends, Sally Simpson of Sparta, and Bill Wissestad of Sparta.

     He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Father James Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2112 will be in the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery County Highway B, La Crosse.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
