Patricia A. Tucker, 63, of Sparta died Sunday, January 6, 2008 in her home. She was born on August 5, 1944 in Sparta to Henry and Marie (Schmieder) Smith. She grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1962. She married Douglas M. Tucker on November 17, 1962 in Black River Falls. After marriage, they lived in Janesville for a short time before moving back to Sparta. Patricia worked at Spartek and then as Program Planner for over 30 years for the Community Action Program and then worked at Wal-Mart for two years until she retired. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta Garden Club, and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing cards. She is survived by her husband, Douglas of Sparta; children, Timothy (Shelley) Tucker of Sparta, Kelly (Barry) Roth of Black Earth, WI; grandchildren, Brittney (Andy Stolpa) and Malissa Tucker, Allison and Nathan Roth; great grandchildren, Mariah Stolpa, and Heidi Stolpa; siblings, Richard (Jody) Smith of Milton, Robert Smith of Madison, Lester (Peggy) Smith of New Glarus, Kathleen Klein of West Salem, Gary Smith of Madison, Maxine Johnson of Stoughton, Bruce Smith of New Glarus; best friends, Joni Olson, Donna Whitehead; aunts, Bernadine Van Kirk, Beverly Heilman, and Irene Jensen; uncles, Paul Schmieder and Martin Schmieder; many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Charles. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta with Father James Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Northwest Wisconsin ALS Support Group. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with arrangements.
