Rodney (Buck) R. Morris

Rodney (Buck) Morris, 63, of Sparta WI, passed quietly surrounded by family and friends on Thursday March 6, 2008. Rod was born on January 13, 1945 to Raymond and Doris (Finch) Morris.  He attended school at Pleasant View and Black River Falls Elementary and High School.

Following High School, Rod joined the Army.  Rod married Jean Kay Bingham on March 4, 1972.  They shared their lives for 35 years and 2 days. After his discharge from the service, Rod joined the Boiler Makers Union where he worked as a welder.  He later worked various jobs such as construction worker and bricklayer, he also painted flag poles, drove semi, mail and milk truck.  He was well respected as a JOATMON.

Rod loved deer hunting with his friends and family, fishing, horseshoe and poker. Disabling health issues forced Rod into early retirement.  Through many life threatening medical conditions, Rod’s wit and spirit never faltered. As Rod’s health restricted his activities he enjoyed watching football and other sports.  He was an avid reader and news junkie but nothing compared to watching NASCAR with his wife Jean. Rod’s devotion to his family and friends was unsurpassed. Time spent with his grandchildren brought countless hours of joy. Those who knew Rod will always remember him for his spirited conversations, his wit, and humor.  He touched many lives and will be remembered by all.

Rod is survived by his wife, Jean of Sparta; sons, Troy (Monica) Morris of Chippewa Falls, WI and Dallas (Tanya) Morris of Sparta WI.; grandchildren, Samantha, Caitlin, Rachel, Jacob, Virginia (Gini), Kane and Grace; his sister, Gloria Worden of Chetek, WI,  the Bingham Family, nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, infant Mary Jeanette and Janice Fredrick; and his son, Raymond Justin Morris.
