| Bernard "Rook" A. Moan, 85, of
Jefferson, formerly of Milwaukee, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at
Countryside Home. Born on March 21, 1922, in La Crosse, to Aksel and Gertrude (La Fleur) Moan, he married Joyce Delaney on July 25, 1942, in La Crosse. She preceded him in death on February 26, 1987. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and saw action in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was employed by the former Crown, Cork and Seal Company in Milwaukee. He was a member of Fin and Feathers Sportsman's Club in Dousman for many years. He was a member of the Thomas Rooney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1530 of La Crosse. He is survived by one son, Raymond Moan of Jefferson; two daughters, Cynda (Jim) Schoesser of Milwaukee and Lynda (Bob) Wildenauer of Hebron; seven grandsons, Robert Wildenauer Jr., John Braz Jr., and Brent, Chad, Eric, Matt and Russell Moan; six granddaughters, Jennifer Bruesch, Beth Holzscheiter, Trista and Valerie Moan, Miranda Wheeler, and Tina Creagle; five great-grandsons, Zachary Creagle, Jerry and Austin Moan, Conner Yehle, and Robert Wildenauer III; ten great-granddaughters, Marissa and Isabella Bruesch, Amelia, Ashley, Emma, and Hope Moan, Sarah and Kara Holzscheiter, and Liberty and Mercedes Wheeler; three brothers, Don (Florence) Pearson of Turtle Lake, Arthur (Jerri) Moan of Prairie du Chien, Clarence Moan of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; three sisters, Catherine (Jim) Erickson of Galesville, Wisconsin, Clara (Chet) Anderson of Pharr, Texas, and Marilyn (Allen) Libby of Clayton, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; Danita, Virgil and Justin Schmitz and the crew at KFC; a special friend, Ann; and his beloved dog, Tick. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Moan; one great-grandson, Justyce Braz; three brothers, Michael, Russell and Aksel Moan; and two sisters, Bernadette Glockzine and Theresa Moan. Funeral services will be held at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home in Sparta at noon on Monday, January 7, with the Rev. Richard Abernathy officiating. Burial, with military honors, will take place at 2:30 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the Olsen Funeral Home in Jefferson from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, and on Monday, January 7, at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home in Sparta from 10 a.m. until the time of services. |
