Minnie I. Sanders, 99, of Sparta died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born on September 23, 1908 in the Township of Burns, La Crosse County, Wisconsin to Ernest and Minnie (Post) Pittenger. She grew up in the Town of Burns and married John T. Sanders in February of 1931.

     After marriage they lived in the Big Creek area. John passed away in 1961. Minnie moved to Sparta in 1974. She was a member of the Big Creek United Methodist Church and then a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church.

     She is survived by two sons, Vernon (Sue Pipkin) Sanders of Sparta, Darrel (Cheryl) Sanders of Camp Douglas, two grandchildren, Lisa (Don Kluender) Sanders of Marshfield, WI, Sherrilyn (Stephen McIntosh) Sanders of Loomis, CA, and four great grandchildren.

     In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, John; a brother, Delbert, and a sister, Naomi Solberg.

     Graveside funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

     Family and close friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
