Matthew S. Dinger, 92, of Sparta, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. He was born on January 27, 1914 in the Township of Jefferson, Monroe County, WI to Sam and Mary (Schotten) Dinger. He grew up in the Melvina area. He farmed and logged for different area farmers. He married Marie Steinhoff on November 4, 1941 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summit Ridge. Matt and Marie owned a farm in the Township of Ridgeville until 1973. They then moved to the Angelo area. He worked at Northern Engraving in Sparta for 11 years before retiring. He became a resident of Morrow Memorial Home in June 2005. He enjoyed cards, puzzles, gardening, and cutting wood. He is survived by his four daughters, Joan (Gerald ) Koltermann, Jean (Clifford) Leis, Irene (Leon) Leis, and Shirley (friend, JB) Hansen all of Sparta; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Dinger of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; a grandson, Donald Koltermann; and brothers and sisters, Bernard, Herman, Sylvester, Cecelia, and Christine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father James Leary OFM Cap. officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta. Family and friends are invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the funeral home on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. |
