Condolences

Mary A. Thielker

     Mary A. Thielker, 82, of Sparta, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.  She was born on November 21, 1925 in the Town of Burns La Crosse County, Wisconsin to William and Ella (Becker) Wehrs.  She grew up in the Town of Burns and moved to Rockland with her family.

     She married Norman Anderson on October 9, 1948.  He died in May of 1973.  She then married LeVern Thielker on December 6, 1980.  He passed on October 11, 1987.

     She worked as a housekeeper for Bud and Alma Hohn.  She then worked at Spartek until she retired.

     She became a resident of Morrow Memorial Home in March of 2002.

     She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta and an American Legion Auxiliary member in Bangor.

     Mary lived in the Sparta/Rockland area her entire life and enjoyed her family, friends, her dog, Misty as well as the daycare, food pantry, church, homemakers, and legion activities.

     She is survived by two daughters, Beverly (John) Ruddock of Ashaway, Rhode Island and Norma (Roland) Arttus of Sparta; Grandchildren, Jason Arttus, and Michelle Arttus of Sparta,  John (Liz) Ruddock of Rhode Island, James (Tammy) Ruddock of Conneticut, and Kevin (Rachel) Ruddock of Rhode Island; 9 step children, Kenneth (Marcia) Thielker of Rockland, Anna (Kent) Wendorf of Viroqua, Russell (Agnes) Thielker of La Crosse, Ruth (John) Elsen of Rockland, John Thielker of Sparta, Leonard Thielker of West Salem, Theodore Thielker of Blair, Nancy (Tom) Zurenda of Marrianna, Florida, and Charlotte (Duane) Leurquin of Redwing, MN; 12 more grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Wehrs of Rockland, and a sister-in-law, Verna Wehrs of West Salem, WI.

     In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Wilfred, Norbert, and Donald.

     Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta with Reverend Matthew E. Toso officiating.

     Family and friends are invited to call at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services. 

     The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
