Margit A. Jacobs, 93, of Sparta died Monday, February 25, 2008 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Fort Walton Beach, FL. She was born on September 3, 1914 in Pleasant Valley, Monroe County, Wisconsin to John and Olga (Severson) Vestreng. She grew up in Pleasant Valley and attended Pleasant View School. Margit married Roy Edward Jacobs on April 6, 1932 in Sparta. After marriage they lived in Sparta. In 1952 they purchased the Dutch Mill Farm in the Town of Sparta and farmed until their retirement. She worked at J.C. Penney in Sparta for a number of years. Margit moved to Parkview Apartments in 2000. She was an active and dedicated member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Sparta, Rebecca Lodge, past 4 H Leader, member of the Guernsey Breeders Association, and Sons of Norway. Margit loved quilting and baking. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Ervin) Nuttleman of Bangor, Mary Jane (Allan) Schell of Fort Walton Beach, FL; a son, John (Alice) Jacobs of Antigo, WI; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Fern Olson of Sparta, and a brother-in-law, Carl Keene of Sparta. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy on April 23, 1995; two sons, Neil, and Dan; a daughter-in-law, Betty; three sisters, Alta Keene, Alda Ornes, and Helen Peterson. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Reverend Deris Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta. Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
