Margaret L. Lakowske, 88, of Rockford and formerly of Sparta died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Rockford, IL at the Anam Care Nursing Home. She was born on June 7, 1918 in Cataract to William and Maria (Zillmer) Parlow. She grew up in the Cataract area.

     She was united in marriage to John Lakowske on March 18, 1939 in the Lutheran Parsonage in Cataract. After marriage they lived in Sparta and raised their family. John passed away on April 1, 1996. Margaret moved to Rockford to be near her son in May of 2004.

     Margaret was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sparta.

     She is survived by a son, Dennis (Pat) Lakowske of Rockford, IL; a daughter Janice (Ronald) Kibbe of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren, Denise McMahon, Mark Lakowske, Sheryl Durrant, John Kibbe; 5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alvin, Lawrence, Ellis; two sisters, Evelyn, and Grace.

     Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

     Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services.
