Le Roy W. Pfaff

     LeRoy W. Pfaff, 71, of Sparta, died December 31, 2007 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta.  He was born on July 11, 1936 in the Town of Burns, La Crosse County, Wisconsin to Roy and Florence (Wadel) Pfaff.  He grew up in the Town of Burns and graduated from Bangor High School in 1954.

     He married the former Joan Berg in West Salem at the Lutheran Church on January 31, 1959.  After marriage they lived in the Sparta area. They were later divorced.  He worked for Beaver Creek Dairy, 7 up Bottling Company, and then purchased the Amber Inn in Sparta in 1976.  He owned and operated the tavern until he retired in 2004.

     He was a founding member of the Western Monroe County Ducks Unlimited, member of the Bangor American Legion, the Eagles Club in Sparta, and the Monroe County Tavern League.

     LeRoy is survived by his children, Bill Gehrking of Pewaukee, WI, Shawn (Jodi) Pfaff of Sparta, Sheila Volden of Sparta; 5 grandchildren, Jacinda, Radlee, Brage, Kelten, and Raja; a sister, Elizabeth Schroeder of Sparta; a brother, Myron (Alice) Pfaff of Bangor, and a sister-in-law, Jane Pfaff of Sparta.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger Pfaff; and a brother-in-law, Bill Schroeder.

     Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta.

     Family and friends are invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

     The Lanham-Miller  Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
