Virginia E. Kurowski, 74, of Sparta, died Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, Sparta. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1933, in Angelo, WI to Virgil and Lucinda (Poff) Thayer. She grew up in Castle Rock and Sparta, WI and later moved to Chicago, IL.

     She married Harrison Warner Jr. in 1952 in Sparta. They later divorced. She moved to Kenosha, WI in 1964. She returned to Sparta in the mid to late 80’s.

     Virginia is survived by 3 sons, Virgil Warner, David R. Warner, and James Sr. (Cheryl M.) Warner all of Kenosha; 3 daughters, Jody (John) Gillispie of Ankeny, IA, Linda Dancer of Fond du Lac, WI, and Paulina Kurowski of Kenosha; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Alvin and Edward G. Thayer; and 5 sisters, Helen Johnson, LaCressa Johnson, Bernice Shimkis, Eva Lamberson, and Betty Johnson.

     Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, rural Tomah.
