Leonard P. Knorst, 74, of West Salem, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, Sparta. He was born on January 25, 1934 in Leon, WI to Jacob H. and Ruth M. (Ebert) Knorst. He grew up in the Leon area and graduated from Sparta High School.

     Leonard served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956 and was stationed in France. After the service, he moved back to the Sparta area. He had several different jobs and enjoyed woodworking.

     Leonard is survived by a sister, Linda Schaitel of West Salem; a niece, Teresa; and nephews, Steve, Jeff, Robert, Randy, and Neil Schaitel.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; a sister, Jeanne; and a great nephew, Derrick.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summit Ridge, with Father Eugene Trainer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

     Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of services.
