Kathleen A. Knoll, 74, of Sparta, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, Sparta. She was born on July 3, 1932 in Sparta to Joseph and Vera (Mengelt) Tucker. She grew up in the Big Creek area and graduated from Sparta High School in 1949. She was confirmed at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church in Sparta. Kathleen worked for Fort McCoy for 4 years. She then worked for the Sparta Area School District for over 40 years retiring in 1997. She married Floyd “Boots” Knoll on November 26, 1949 at the United Methodist Parsonage. She was a member of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, the Sparta Eagles Club Auxiliary, and the Western Wisconsin Country Music Association. She enjoyed crafts and sewing. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Floyd “Boots” Knoll of Sparta; a son, Paul (Kim) Knoll of Sparta; a daughter, Darlene (John) Hamilton of Valparaiso, IN; three grandchildren, Joshua Knoll of Sparta, Rhonda Taylor and Charlene Taylor both of Hobart, IN; four great grandchildren, Remington Taylor, Jessica Osterkamp, Christina Hicks, and Devin McCoy all of Hobart, IN; a brother, Thomas Tucker of Killeen, TX; and two sisters, Patricia Cook of Bremerton, WA and Gloria Reynolds of Pflugerville, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Joe “Poddy” Tucker, Jack Tucker, George Tucker, and Daniel Tucker. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Ev Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta. Family and friends are invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. |
