Joyce A. Kroener

Joyce A. Kroener, 69, of Sparta died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born on July 11, 1938 in the Town of Burns, La Crosse County, Wisconsin to Henry and Leona (Ziegler) Koopman. She grew up in Jenkins Valley and graduated from Sparta High School in 1956. She married Harvey Paulson in July of 1959. They were later divorced.

     Joyce worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta, then at the Country Kitchen and then worked at Northern Engraving until she retired in July of 2003.

     She married Theodore Kroener on February 28, 2004 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sparta. Theodore passed away on October 12, 2006. She was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church.

     She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne (Jeff) Steinhoff of Sparta; two sons, LeRoy Paulson of Sparta, Harvey Paulson of Sparta; two grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Steinhoff of Sparta, Betsy Steinhoff of Madison; a great grandson, Carson; a sister, Myrtle (Tom) Bruhn of West Salem, WI; four brothers, Rudolph (Viola) Koopman of Minnesota, Vernon (Donna) Koopman of Tennessee, Orville (Carolyn) Koopman of Sparta, and Raymond Koopman of Ohio.

     In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Catherine, Lucille, Mennetta; four brothers, Earl, Gaylord, Robert, and Maynard.

     Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

     The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
