Jerome S. Weiner

Jerome S. Weiner, 64, of Sparta died Friday, July 7, 2006 in his home. He was born on May 16, 1942 in rural Cashton to Jacob and Agnes (Marx) Weiner. He grew up in the Melvina area and graduated from Cashton High School in 1960. Jerome served with the Wisconsin National Guard 107th Maintenance Company for 33 years. He retired from the 107th in 1995.

     He married the former Sharon Schmitz on October 8, 1966 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. He worked at Volk Field at Camp Douglas for 31 years, retiring in 1994.

     Jerome was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta and he enjoyed farming on their farm.  

     He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Sparta; a son Todd (Debra) Weiner of Sparta; a daughter, Tamra Hemmersbach of Westby; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Paige, Seth, Megan, and Jestin; a brother, Paul (Mary) Weiner of Green Bay, WI; three sisters, Joanne (George) Hilby of Jefferson, WI, LaVonne (Charles) Larson of DeForest, and Gloria (John) Habhegger of Sparta.

     He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy, and his parents.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta with Father James Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating.  Burial with full military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2112 will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Monday  from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. There will be a Rosary Service at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

     The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
