Eugene A. Janzen

     Eugene A. Janzen, 66 of Sparta died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, Sparta.  He was born on February 26, 1941 in Cashton to Raymond and Mary (Brueggen) Janzen. He went to St. Peter and Paul School in Pine Hollow and graduated from Cashton High School.

     Eugene joined the Air Force on July 9, 1959.  He was in the Air Police and then in Security Service.  He served in Taiwan for 14 months.  He was honorably discharged in July of  1963.

     He married Judine Lou Schultenover in November of 1963, Gene and Judy later divorced.  He married Janice Raymer in December of 1990.

     He is survived by his wife, Janice, of Sparta; his 4 children, Sheryl Kortbein, grandchildren, Zachary, Kylie and Ben; Russell (Tina) Janzen, grandchildren, Jessica and Nathan; Darrell (Krista) Janzen, grandchildren, Alexandria, Emma and Isaac; Lana Walker, grandchildren, Mia and Ceara; step children, Roxanna (William) St. John, grandchildren, Troy, Jamie and Chad Donskey; Kevin (Marlene) Raymer, grandchild, Jenna; Bruce (Jane) Raymer, grandchildren, Andrew and Jason; Patricia (Royce) Newman, grandchildren,  Josh and Brandy; Suzanne Davis, grandchildren, Kaylin and Abbey; 13 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Donald (Florence) Janzen, and Norman (Donna) Janzen; 3 sisters, Mary Ann Fuerstenberg, Elaine (Darrell) Pederson, and Norma (Albert) Spaeth; sister-in-law, Dorothy Janzen; several nieces and nephews; aunt and uncle, Art and Marion Janzen.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary; brother, Arnold Janzen; nephew, Jeffrey Janzen; great grandson, Jacob Donskey.

     Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta with Father James Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW Post 8584 will be in Pine Hollow Cemetery, Cashton.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a 7:45 p.m. rosary and at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
