Jane F. McKenna, 63, of Sparta went to her eternal reward on October 14, 2008 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on September 17, 1945 in Prairie du Chien, WI to William and Irene M. (Smith) O’Neill. Jane graduated from Aquinis High School in La Crosse in 1963. She continued her education by graduating from Duquesne University in Pittsburg, PA. She received her Masters Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. While attending Duquesne she met her future husband, Joseph N. McKenna. They were married at St. Joseph The Workman Cathedral in La Crosse, WI on August 17, 1968. From this union Jane and Joe were blessed with three children; Patrick (Jodie) McKenna of Sparta, WI, Michael (Kelly Triemert) of Minneapolis, MN, and Maureen (Andrew Cecka) of Madison, WI; these children were the delight of Jane’s life and she proved to be a loving mother and grandmother. She is also survived by her husband, Joseph McKenna of Sparta; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Nichols and Alayna McKenna; numerous cousins; and the “troop” from Aquinis High School. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father James Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta. Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and on Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with arrangements. |
