Robert L. Haugen, 63, of Sparta, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at his home. He was born on February 11, 1945 in Sparta, WI to Melvin and Ida (Lee) Haugen. He grew up in the Norwalk area and graduated from Brookwood High School. Robert served in the US Army from June 8, 1967 until January 9, 1969 during the Vietnam War. He later worked on the family farm, the feed mill in Cashton, WI, and worked at Fort McCoy until his retirement in 1998. He married Gloria Gonia in Sparta on May 19, 1986. They were later divorced. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Robert is survived by his children, Ashley Haugen of Sparta and Rob Haugen of Fort Lewis, WA; his step children, Kevin (Jen) Mauel of Holmen, WI, Michelle (Eric) Malek of Waunakee, WI, and Nicole Mauel of Monona, WI; 4 step grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Vernon Haugen of Cashton, WI, Olive Kessler of Cashton, Marion (Ike) Mlsna of Cashton, and Jim (Virginia) Haugen of Hopkinton, IA; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters, Lester, Betty, Agnes, Gladys, and Lawrence. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Randy Williamson officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 2112 will be in the Portland Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cashton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of services. The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
