Vivian "Ginger" Hoard

Vivian “Ginger” Hoard, 80, of Sparta, died peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2008 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Center, La Crosse. She was born on November 7, 1927 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to William and Marvel (Hoffert) Stelter. She grew up in the Ontario, WI area.

     Ginger married Eugene Hoard on June 22, 1948. After marriage, they lived in Sparta and then lived in Janesville for 30 years. They returned to the Sparta area in 1983. Eugene passed away on February 3, 1990.

     She lived in Fort Atkinson, WI for five years and then moved north of Cataract for nine years. She and Jim built a new home southwest of Sparta and lived there.

     She is survived by a loving companion, James Ball of Sparta; two sisters, Violet Revels of Sparta and Ann (Sid) Wheeler of Somonauk, IL; six brothers, Donald (Cozy) Stelter of Sparta, LaVerne (Marilyn) Stelter of Janesville, James (Hilda) Stelter of Janesville, Eugene (Janette) Stelter of Ferryville, WI, Dale (Mary) Stelter of West Yellowstone, Bruce (Judy) Stelter of Janesville; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

     In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Lorraine, Betty, Mary Lou, Margaret, Diane; five brothers, William, Robert, Alton, Duane, and Lester.

     Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Reverend Matthew E. Toso officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
