Everette Warren Anderson, 82, of rural Sparta, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse. He was born on July 31, 1923 on Fish Creek Ridge, Sparta, WI. He was the tenth child of Adolph and Hilda Anderson. Everette attended a one-room school house located just across the road from the family’s home. After finishing school at the top of his class, Everette became a farmer. Together with his older brother, Lyndahl, they farmed over 250 acres. They had dairy cows until the early 1980’s. As farmers they grew hay, tobacco, corn, and other crops. Besides farming, Everette went to trade school where he learned welding and mechanics. He was well-known as a man who had a knack for fixing anything. He repaired machinery, rebuilt engines, fixed the sawmill, and built a milk house. He also liked to work on cars. He was very helpful to friends and family. Everette married Lorraine E. Peterson, daughter of Anton and Martha Peterson, on October 12, 1957. They had two children, a son, Michael Alan, born November 14, 1959, and Pamela Kay, born March 26, 1967. Lorraine passed away in 1978. He did not remarry. As the youngest uncle, Everette liked to spend time with his nephews and nieces, many of whom were close to his age. He enjoyed taking trips to Chicago where he visited his brother, Clarence, and sister, Alice. When the nephews from the city visited the farm, he made sure to give them rides on the tractor. Everette attended Fish Creek Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed. He learned Norwegian as a child and continued to speak it as an adult. He often spoke fondly of his trip to Norway, where he traveled the countryside, saw the fjords. In retirement, Everette continued to putter and fix things. He enjoyed an occasional beer and playing cards. Everette was a caring father who loved his children. He was the proud grandfather of April, Matthew, and Wyatt. Everette was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorraine, brothers, Lyndahl, Otis, Arthur, Earl, and Clarence, and sisters, Myrtle, Ella, Louise, and Alice. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fish Creek Ridge Lutheran Church with Reverend John Stennes-Spidahl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
