Eugene W. Martin, 43, of Sparta died Friday, August 25, 2006 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta.  He was born on August 31, 1962 in Sparta to Wilbert & Irene (Liek) Martin.  He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1980.

     He farmed and then he worked at Pine Valley Meats. He then farmed with Jim Ebert and also with the Nehls Brothers in Juneau.  He moved to Waupun, WI and worked at Wicks Lumber Company. 

     He returned to Sparta in 2001.  He became a resident of Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in December of 2005.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, camping, and gardening.

     He is survived by his daughters, Carrie Martin of Sparta, and Julie Teeselink of Mauston; a grandson, Eyon Pergande of Mauston; 3 sisters, Janice (Thomas) Van Wormer of Sparta, Alice (Dennis) Vian of Sparta, and Kathleen (Duane) Dolejsi of Aberdeen, S.D.; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Karen Cross of Sparta.

     He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Ev Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
