David W. Endres, 67, of Sparta, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born on July 17, 1940 in Sparta to George and Leone (Alton) Endres. He grew up in rural Sparta on the family farm.

     He moved to Sparta and worked at Hiawatha Dairies, Webster Lumber, numerous farmers in the area, and most recently retired from Mathew’s Inc. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, fishing, camping, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. David was a special person, always there if anyone needed help. He will be greatly missed.

     David is survived by his brothers and sisters, Jim Endres of Sparta, Angeline Nichols of Sparta, Donald (Joni) Endres of Sparta, Janice Newberry of California, Maryann Dean of Kentucky, George (Marge) Endres Jr. of Sparta, and Michael (Joyce) Endres of Sparta; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and special friend, Shelley Nichols of Green Bay, WI.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; a sister, Alice Whitacre; and 2 infant siblings.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta.

     Family and friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
