Kenneth A. Cooper, 66, of Sparta died Saturday, August 16, 2008 in his home. He was born on December 21, 1949 at Abbington Memorial Hospital in Abbington, PA to Herbert and Gertrude (Fitton) Cooper. Ken worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Pennsylvania for 23 years. He moved to Sparta in September of 2004.

     Ken married Penny Johannsen on October 13, 2006 in Sparta. After marriage they lived in Sparta. He worked for the La Crosse Tribune as district manager for two years. He enjoyed working on his computer and playing Pogo.

     He is survived by his wife, Penny of Sparta; his mother, Gertrude Cooper of Southampton, PA; his children, Ken James Cooper of Riverton, NJ, Todd William Cooper of Delran, NJ, Tara Lynn Bittle of Annville, PA; three grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Cooper, Evelyn Joan McCrellis Bittle, Lily Jane Cooper; his brother, H. James Cooper of Atlanta, GA; three step children, Heather (Jason) Jandt of Sparta, Lindsey (Jamie) Blair of Warrenville, IL, Corey Johannsen of Warrenville, IL; three step grandchildren, Madelyn, Blake, Cayden; nieces, and nephew, Tamara, Tyler, and Brianna.

     He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert in February of 2001.

     Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Reverend Randy Larson officiating.

     Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

     The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
