Bernita L. Deichler, 80, of Sparta, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta. She was born on October 19, 1925 in the Township of Tomah to Elmer and Edna (Shueman) Marten. She grew up in the Tomah area and attended Council Creek Grade School prior to 8th grade when she attended St. Paul’s Ev Lutheran School in Tomah. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1944. On February 17, 1951 she married Lewis H. Deichler in Norwalk at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Parsonage. After marriage, they farmed in the Norwalk area until they moved to Sparta in 1978. She was a member of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, Sparta. She is survived by two sons, Norman (Margaret) Deichler of Satellite Beach, FL and Roger (Christine) Deichler of Norwalk; two daughters, Nancy (Gerald) Haney of Norwalk and Bonnie (Steven) Scholze of Sparta; 8 grandchildren, Kathy Deichler of Melbourne, FL, Roxanne (Mark) Suchomel of Poynette, WI, Cpl Jesse Haney USMC of Camp Lejeune, NC, Sarah Haney of Norwalk, Tim Deichler of Tomah, Jenny Deichler of Norwalk, Cole Scholze of Sparta, and Megan Scholze of Sparta; 2 great grandchildren, D.J. and Rodney of Florida; two brothers, Reuben (Kathie) Marten of Tomah, Raymond Marten of Tomah; two sisters, Viona Seleski of Spokane, WA, and Gladys Rose of Oakdale, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis on October 9, 2001; and a brother, Robert. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church Sparta, with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Ev Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. The Lanham-Miller Funeral home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
