Norman D. Aspeslet, 72, of Sparta died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Tomah. He was born on July 23, 1935 in Holmen, WI to Alfred and Edna (Farnam) Aspeslet. He grew up in the Holmen area and graduated from Holmen High School.

     Norman served in the U.S. Army from January 7, 1958 until December 19, 1959. He married the former Irene Bourdage on December 30, 1960. He worked as a certified auto technician for 30 years in Harvard, IL. They moved back to Sparta in 1993 after Norman retired due to an illness. He was a past member of the Order of the Moose Chapter 500 in Harvard, IL for many years.

     He is survived by his wife, Irene of Sparta; a son, Steven Aspeslet of Loves Park, IL; a sister, Marion Olson of Rockland, WI; three brothers, Clifton (Lois) Aspeslet of West Salem, WI, Willard Aspeslet of West Salem, WI, Tillman (Alice) Aspeslet of Athens, WI; nieces, and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lila; a brother-in-law, and a sister-in-law.

     Memorial services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta. Burial will be at a later date in the Mt. Alburn Cemetery, Harvard, IL.

     Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of services.
