Myrle E. Aney, 93, of Cataract died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born on April 7, 1914 in Coles Valley, Township of Adrian, Monroe County, Wisconsin to Irvin and Alma (Vandervort) Aney. Myrle married the former Helen Puls on March 20, 1937 in Sparta. They were married for 68 years. After marriage they lived in Sparta until they moved to Cataract. They purchased the Rudkin Grocery store and owned and operated the store for 13 years. Myrle worked for 9 years for the Monroe County Highway Department; 15 years as the Town of Little Falls as Patrolman, and he worked at Fort McCoy for 20 years. Myrle served 32 years on the Board of Appeals, 13 years with the Sparta Board of Education, 15 years as Fire Warden and was a member of the Cataract Sportsman Club for 54 years. He is survived by a daughter, Carla (James) Wegner of Sparta; a son, Bruce (Rosemary) Aney of Mauston; grandchildren, Bob (Ann) Wegner, Susan (Tom) Mack, Rhonda (Tim) Werre, Clark (Jennifer) Aney; great grandchildren, Brad, Chase, TJ, Hanah, Sarah, Kaitlyn, and Hayden. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen on August 19, 2005 his parents, and his brother, Garman “Swede” Aney Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Cataract with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Cataract Cemetery, Cataract. Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. |
