Adeline S. Jones, 89, of Sparta died Friday, August 18, 2006 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, La Crosse. She was born on May 10, 1917 in the Township of Burns, La Crosse County, Wisconsin to Fred and Sarah (Luethi) Stark. She grew up in the Big Creek area and was baptized July 15, 1917 in Sparta at the First Evangelical Zion Church. She attended Lower Big Creek School and graduated from Sparta High School in 1934.

     Adeline married Verl Jones on February 20, 1940 in her home in Big Creek by Reverend Bernhardt.

     She served 9 years on the Morrow Memorial Home Corporate Board, volunteered at the Morrow Memorial Home, and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sparta, United Methodist Women and the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

     She is survived by her children, Barbara (Norman) Williams of Berlin, WI, Dianne (Kenneth) Engler of Annandale, MN, Stanley (Patricia) Jones of Whitewater, WI, Sara (David) Kemp of Sparta; grandchildren, Nancy Williams, Michele (John) Probst, Michael (Donna) Williams, Valerie Williams, Eric (Becky) Engler, Sheri (Trent) Greener, David (Heather) Jones, Lisa (Todd) Terrill, Melissa (Russ) Culpitt, Alison Kemp and Dana Kemp; great grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Ben, Brianna, Kiersten, Sydney, Justin, Brandon, Lindsey, Bayly, Courtney, McKenzie, Charlie, Morgan, and Mara; a brother, Lloyd (Helen) Stiehl of Sparta; many nieces, and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Verl S. Jones on May 2, 1974; a grandson, Bruce A. Williams; a granddaughter, Penelope Kemp; two sisters, Edna Zimmerman, Georgia Zietlow, and a brother, Howard Stark.

     Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Sparta with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta.

     Friends may call at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sparta United Methodist Church or Riverfront, Inc.

     The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
