Muriel M. Augustine, 90, of Sparta died Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born on July 29, 1915 in the Cataract area, Monroe County, Wisconsin to Harry and Lucy (Huntington) Larson. She grew up in the Angelo area.

     Muriel married Evan E. Augustine on Valentine’s Day in 1940. After marriage they lived in Sparta, Miles City, Montana, and then in Front Royal, Virginia. They retired in 1971 and continued to live in Front Royal until they returned to Sparta in 1989. She moved to the Morrow Memorial Home in 2003. Muriel was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church.

     She is survived by three sisters, LaVerna Williams of Madison, Lillian Jensen of Sparta, Garnet (LaVern) Betthauser of Oakdale; a brother, Richard (Karen) Larson of La Crosse; nieces, and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Evan on November 6, 1993, and a brother, Stanley.

     Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta.

     Friends may call at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

     Memorials may be given to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
